Why Symbolia exists

Most symbol sites stop at "click to copy." That's fine once — but the tenth time you need a degree sign or an em dash, what you really want is to know how to type it. Symbolia shows the typing method next to every character: the Unicode code point, the Alt+X shortcut for Microsoft Word, the Windows alt code, and the HTML entity. Copy it today, type it yourself tomorrow.

How it works

Everything on Symbolia runs entirely in your browser. When you copy a symbol or convert text, nothing you type is transmitted to our servers. Favorites and your recently used symbols are stored locally on your own device, and your light/dark preference is remembered the same way. There are no accounts and nothing to sign up for.

Accuracy matters here

Every character on Symbolia is a standard Unicode code point with its official name, and the typing codes are derived directly from those code points — including the correct leading-zero form for Windows alt codes (Alt+0233 for é, not the DOS-era Alt+233). If you ever spot something wrong, please tell us — accuracy is the whole point of the site.
